Some More Tales of the Epilator

2009 September 8

I’ve been pretty happy with the Braun Epilator that I purchased, all things considering it is better than shaving and does last longer.  I suppose though that unless I just have insanely fast hair regrowth cycles it’s going to take a while to get “most” of the hairs out at once.  The ones at the surface get epilated but then the ones lurking just beneath pop up in 4-5 days and then I have to get them.  Also I’ve found that the epilator just cannot get itty bitty peach fuzz hairs very well so it will leave those behind and then of course in 4-5 days I have to go back and get those.  It’s nice though b/c even though those are there, for the most part, they still look hair free.

The pain factor definitely gets better with repeated usage.  Except in a few areas, it now just feels like a tiny irritating scratch more than the burning snapping rubberband feeling it left in the beginning.

I’ve found a good AHA lotion is a must have and thus have invested in a $25 bottle of AmLactin lotion but at least it will last a while.  I also got one of the buff puff like sponges to exfoliate my legs in the shower which keeps them super smooth, helps prevent ingrowns, and better exposes hairs for epilating.

I did make the mistake once so far of getting some skin in the epilator.  Eeeps… busted blood vessels.  Not so pretty.

after applying the AHA lotion i suggest perhaps layer over another layer of aloe vera? to smooth the irritations on your leg’s skin~

That’s a good idea! I’ve been using a straight up moisturizing body lotion along with the AHA lotion but something that is more soothing might work better.
