tried 3 of the 6 Bourjois products

2008 June 4

Monday’s Ulta haul consisted of 5 Bourjois minis (they’re having a 5 for $25 sale on them), a new Jane mineral gel eyeliner, and a Bourjois GWP… a full sized eyeshadow brush.

So I have played with 2 of the minis and the brush so far. Here are my thoughts.

First the mini Bourjois Dose de Nacres eyeshadow powder in shade #2. I ♥ this so much. It reminds me a bunch of a loose pigment shadow I previously owned that came from a place that no longer exists, so I was pretty much out of luck with getting my hands on it again, but this is a close match!

#2 is a perfect creamy white with tons and tons of gold shimmer. It’s probably more gold than white/cream actually, but it gives anywhere you apply it a gorgeous golden glow. The product is milled super duper fine so that it almost feels creamy. This is instant brightening high shimmer for pretty much anywhere. I wore it on my eyes, but the tiniest bit would make an awesome cheek highlighter, or a little more really spread out on collar bones, shoulders, wherever! This is the *perfect* gold shimmer product. And the mini size isn’t so mini, you get 1 gram and because there is so much product packed in there and it really delivers its bang for its buck, this will last a while. I’m almost wishing I would have used my 5 for 25 deal solely on these loose shadows!

Then I tried out my mini Bourjois Effect 3D gloss in Beige Elastic. I was thrilled to see the nudes collection (well at least some of them) in mini form b/c I have been dying to try them out but have felt reluctant to pay the $16 a pop for the full size (although w/o the sale, you’re better off doing so, the minis are 9$ otherwise!!). You get .05 oz, which is sort of sad yes and won’t hang around forever like the tiny pigments, but is more product than you get in some of the click pen style glosses.

I love the smoothness of this gloss, well the base of it… the high shimmer in it makes it a tad bit gritty but nothing totally irritable. It has a familiar sweet/tarty smell and taste that I can’t quite place. It feels really moisturizing on lips. A tad bit of the greasy feel, definitely not sticky, but moisturizing nonetheless.

And finally the GWP eyeshadow brush. It’s good. Bright pink, I love that. Well made, very sturdy. And the bristles are super soft. This is a great brush for applying a wash of color to lids.
